Have you ever been surrounded by some of the most amazing things in the world and yet still find yourself realizing it’s not enough?
The reality is, you and I spend the majority of our lives trying to become more and trying to become better. We have the tendency to think we need to be more qualified when we really just need more of Jesus. Who we say Jesus is will determine who we can be.
In order to get more of Jesus, we have to look for Him. If we look for God in the ways we look for the things of this earth, we are going to miss Him. We see this 1 Corinthians 1: 20-25:
“Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.”
If you want to embrace something bigger than what you have ever experienced before, you need a new framework. We need to look for Jesus in a different way.
What can you and I do to get more of Him? How can we bring more of God into the mix of our lives?
1. Flourish where you are
It is so easy to end up missing out on your today because you are so busy worrying about your tomorrow. What you paint today will determine who you will be tomorrow.
You can’t wait for your surroundings to line up...to be better, to be more qualified, to be enough. The beauty of knowing Jesus is that the soil does not make the precedence; it is Jesus that changes everything.
Be defiant to the enemy. Plant the word of God exactly where you are, and you can make good things happen exactly where you are.
When you walk depending on Him, He makes things happen. You can start now. You can love now. You can paint the picture now. You can flourish now.
2. Don’t live for appointment; live appointed.
Your appointment will never look like what it looks like in God’s eyes. God is not in the business of giving you what you want; He is in the business of supplying you with what you deeply need.
God wants to move through you for the people around you, and you have to be who you are called to be.
